It came together fast. TerrifiCON's founder Mitch Hallock said that legendary writer Roy Thomas was interested in doing an on-camera interview for the doc when he was here in Connecticut for the show. Great! But...would our schedules allow it? We reached out to Roy's manager, John Cimino to coordinate with Roy's schedule. There was only one possibility: early Friday morning August 18th, before the show opened AND before Roy had to make his scheduled appearances. Perfect! We c
Or maybe we should wait until that food coma passes... When we last saw our heroes we were launching Phase 2 of our Indiegogo campaign to raise funds to finish the movie!
....Errrrr which... didn't go so well...
Jeez, what is it with Charlton and lack of money?!?!
Fear not, we'll find a way, but help is always appreciated! You can always make a contribution on our website!
As mentioned in our last shout out, our New York Comic Con live broadcast was heaps of fun, and w
Now, while we're familiar with this word "vacation", who has time for that?!? The leaves are changing, so pack away your Speedo (Eeeeek!!!) and grab something pumpkin spice flavored, and let's catch up! We posted a blog back in July after we interviewed Charlton's youngest writer, Will Franz. If you missed out, you can read it here. Will invited us to his office over in Brooklyn to get the nitty gritty on why he was perhaps the only person ever to be censored while working fo
You bet! We can also walk the walk. But that’s not what we’re talking about today. We’re talking “talk”... and not just talking to talk! Documentaries are famously known as "those talking head films”, which may sound dry, but it isn’t always a bad thing. Because this time, those talking heads are the comic creators we all know and love! I mean, who wouldn't want to listen to Denny O'Neil talk all day? Here's a phone book Denny, we're all ears! But getting back on track, we've
It is with a heavy heart that we have to say goodbye to a legend, a real visionary, and hell of a good guy, George Wildman. A true renaissance man through and through, George's career was something that few can boast about. Here was a cartoonist who took his background in advertising and molded it to suit the needs of a comic book company that few others saw potential in. His rebranding of the Charlton Comic's logo undoubtedly breathed new life into a fading empire. Interview
A month ago Keith, Jackie and Peter Bradley set out in a severe ice storm. Their destination: Red Bank, New Jersey. Sound familiar? Well to most comic book, movie and pop culture zealots it's known as the stomping grounds for the champion of all things geek and independent film success, Kevin Smith. It's also the town in which his venerable comic book store, Jay & Silent Bob's Secret Stash is located. You maybe know that place from the AMC television show, "Comic Book Men"
On a bitter sub-zero Saturday, February 13, Keith & Jackie set out as a skeleton crew of two with an SUV packed to the gills with equipment to interview Gary McInnis for the movie. Who's Gary McInnis you ask? Well, scour comicbookdb, WikiPedia and every other resource online and you'll not find a thing about Gary. So who is this guy and how did we find him? He found us. Gary was attending the TerrifiCON (then CT ComiCONN) at Mohegan Sun this past August and he stopped to
The final weekend in August brought us to the campus of the renowned Paier Art College in Hamden, Connecticut to talk with the illustrious Frank McLaughlin (get it? He illustrates and...yeah). Dean of The College Francis R. Cooley and Vice-President Dan Paier were on hand with some of their students to witness the interview session upon arrival. Paier was most gracious and very excited to have us there at Frank's suggestion as he instructs there part-time to this day. Fran
What can you say about spending a weekend at Connecticut ComiCONN (re-branded next year as CT TerrifiCON) except that "real life is drag". Mitch Hallock, family and crew worked tirelessly all weekend to provide a first class experience and Mohegan Sun Hotel & Casino in Uncasville, Connecticut proved to be an AMAZING venue for the expo. If you get a chance to attend next year, take the opportunity. Our weekend started with a bang as we bumped into Neal Adams during load-in a
