This Film Goes South...

Just in time for a snow storm, our crew trudged forward on our quest to complete the shooting of the movie by hopping on a plane and heading to the hot and humid state of Florida. Keith, Jackie and Jude trekked down with a total of 17 pieces of luggage filled with gear, t-shirts, shorts and flip flops to shoot interviews with E-Man co-creator Nicola "Nick" Cuti and a formal full sit down interview with Tony Stark himself, Bob Layton.

Our 14-hr shoot date on Tuesday, December 13th began at Nick's house where we were greeted by some of the coolest 1950's nuclear age sci-fi B-movie posters ever in his home office. Nick's office is also decorated with some of his original new works "Starflake" and "Captain Cosmos" (check out Nick's stuff here).

Nick gave us over 2 hours of amazing background on his time at Charlton, the feeling when the end was near and how he and George Wildman tried to use their budget restrictions to help build and promote the Charlton Comics line. What a great day at Nick's house and you'll be hard pressed to find a nicer person anywhere!

After a quick stop at a local Wendy's we drove about an hour to see our pal Bob Layton at his new condominium. Bob has relocated to the Tampa area from Los Angeles and is getting into film production himself. Bob dove deep into the CPL Gang days as he, Roger Stern, John Byrne, Duffy Vohland, and the rest of the gang gained notice by Charlton and eventually published the Charlton Bullseye fanzine. From there he discussed his short time at Charlton and of course, had us laughing at some of the crazy stories of his time living in Derby; right up the street from Charlton Press!

We wrapped our shoot with Bob a little after 10pm. After bringing our Chevy Suburban full of gear back to hotel and unloading it, our day topped out at 14 hours! It was an AMAZING adventure! Thank you to our donors who made that important trip possible! We're so close to finishing the interviews! Keep an eye on our social media blasts, email newsletters and home page calendar to see where we are going to be in 2017! Happy New Year and Up & Atom!
